Will my iPhone break if I try to connect it to an older device?
I have a thing in my car that connects to an iPod like the usb docking thing on an iPod wire. This lets me play my iPod through the car speakers. However, this thing was made before the iPhone really came out. I have an iPhone 3Gs, and was just wondering if plugging it in would cause any damage to the actual phone. If it will work or not is a different story, but my main concern is if any damage to the phone will occur. Thanks in advanced for any help.

No, it won’t hurt your iPhone. If you have a newer iPhone though, you won’t be able to charge it (if your cable that’s in your car ever had that capability, that is). If you want to be able to charge your phone while it’s in the car, and you have a 3G or 3GS iPhone, you need a charge converter, like something sold here: http://cablejive.com/charge-converter
