will generic ipods work with ipod docking stations?
I bought a generic ipod for my kids. I want to get an am/fm cd player with ipod docking station. Will generic ipods work with any ipod docking stations?

well that depends on what brand it is. but since they’re not apple ipods then a dock for them is going to be a little harder to find. if you know what brand you have you can go to bestbuy.com and type in that brand and say sound docks. if you can’t find anything or anything that you like then you could buy one that works for ipod you would just have to plug the mp3 you got into the back through the aux jack. it’ll play but it won’t charge. but online is your best bet cause they never have much for anything but ipod in stores.
Do you mean generic mp3 player? Then no. But any iPod brand thing should work with an iPod dock.

I’m a little unclear of what a generic iPod is… so I will go under the assumption that it is not an iPod nano or an iPod shuffle or and iPod touch and is a regular 30 or 80 gigabyte iPod (colors: black or white).
If it has a dock connector port, it should work with anything that says it has a dock connector.
It just occurred to me that you may be referring to a generic mp3 player. In that case, the answer is no, a generic mp3 player will not work with an ipod docking station.
Honestly, your best bet will be to go into Best Buy or Radioshack and ask this question. Anyone there will be able to tell you what product will and won’t work with the player you bought.
Stay away from anything IPOD. Get a standard MP3 player. You will connect it via USB cable, so you don’t need the goofy docking station. If you are trying to plug this into your stereo or car radio, you still can you just need an rca to mini plug cable.
