Why won’t my Insignia alarm ipod dock not play my ipod?

A couple of weeks ago I came home from school and put my ipod in the dock to listen to it like I do everyday and it would not read that it was connected. It will play everyone else’s ipod but mine and my ipod works in everyone else’s dock. What’s wrong here?
I have the ipod nano. the old one not any of the new ones
