Which ipod docking station to buy?
I have a ipod 4th gen and i listen to allot of metal ! I want to buy a docking station that will sound good with my music.
I also want something compatible with as many different models as possible so my friends can play their music when they come over.
Any suggestions ?

There are a couple of little issues that may make a docking station less than the ideal choice for you. One is that unless you spend three, four hundred dollars or more, you’re not going to get the volume you’re looking for and probably not the quality either. Another thing is that if you buy one with the iPod dock connector, anything else will have to be connected with an auxiliary cable and will lose even more volume. Your best option would be to buy a rockin’ set of computer speakers, like Altec-Lansing or if you want to blow the budget, go for Bose or Klipsch. There’s one cable that goes in the headphone jack of the device and that’s it. You can then use them with a laptop, desktop or mini, a portable DVD player and a portable CD player. That’s quite a bit of versitility at a fraction of the cost of a dock.
If you already have a nice home stereo with the aux function, buy a fifteen dollar cable with RCAs on one end and the headphone jack on the other then play and portable device through those speakers.
If you still want to have a dock, the Apple iPod Hi-Fi is awesome. It costs what a Bose will cost you, but it makes Bose sound like the transistor radio I had when I was a kid. Altec-Lansing, Sony and Logitech all make reasonably priced docks with good sound quality.
