What good does jailbreaking an iphone or ipod touch do?
What can you do on a jailbroken ipod that you can’t do on a regular one. Could it cause my ipod to break? And if my ipod breaks for some reason later on, will Apple be able to fix it, or does the warranty not account to jailbroken ipods.

It allows you to run unauthorized software at least.
In the case of an iPhone, it also allows you to unlock it and use SIMs from other providers.
On my iphone it has enabled me to use certain things that i either would of had to pay for or not be able to do at all!!
Like for example, video ringtones, video wallpapers, main screen backgrounds… Video recording, and the list goes on…
I broke my phone not so long after jailbreaking.. (the screen cracked)
all i did was create a backup on itunes.. reset the phone completely, gave it to apple, they replaced it, and then i uploaded my backup…
