ipod of itouch?

My birthday is coming up and I was gonna ask for a Ipod.
Because it works with so many cool accessories.
But then someone told me that I should invest in an Itouch instead because the future of MP3′s will be like that, and the Ipod will kinda be extinct. They say I will have more use for the Itouch.
However ?
I see my self using an Ipod more, like hooking it up to the car to listen to music, getting a boombox dock for it and just stuff like that.
What do you guys think? I mean I like the fact that you can go online and all with the Itouch, but it just seems like I can have both.
Which one should I get and why do you think so.

Or do you think I should not have a problem with the Itouch? Like do you think I should be able to do the same things with it? As far as accessories go?

      Well I went on Youtube and people say that you have to go on installer and I don’t have that, but I really want the dock application! It is the one with like the little sun thing in the bottom right corner of either your iTouch or iPhone. I have the 2nd generation so I don’t know what to do.       Problem is, one day it was working..the next I went to put my iPod on it to play and it wouldn’t and still won’t play out of the speakers. I’ve tried unplugging it, turning the radio off (the radio comes on when I put my iPod on it), and pushing various buttons to try and reset it or something to make it work.

      I’m not too sure what I did to it?!

      Anyone else have similar problems with this iPod docking station? If so..how did you fix it? Thanks!

      How to fix the bent pins on the Ipod touch dock connecter?

      Hey ive had my Itouch for abt 9 months now, and the the pins on the dock connector are bent way out of shape, I have no clue how that happened, anyone know how i can fix it or if i can take it to apple or anyother store that can fix it. Oh and my ipod is jail broken to soo i cant really take it to apple, or restore it coz it wont sync or charge :( and currently its out of battery.
