I really don’t listen to the radio while I am driving, I listen to my Ipod. My car stereo has an Aux jack in the front where I plug the Ipod double-ended male jack cable into. The other end, of course goes in the headphone jack of the ipod.
The problem lies whenever I want to charge the ipod from the dock connector AND LISTEN to music at the same time. It DOES NOT MATTER if the engine is running or not, but there is line noise coming from somewhere and heard over the car speakers, and I can’t pinpoint it.
The noise sometimes varies in pitch and sometimes it just stays at one static hiss level.
The car stereo is not the problem because when it is playing a CD or on a radio station, there is no interference. I have tried other ipods in the car with the same resulting hiss. The only two causes it could be is the cigarette lighter USB charger (I have tried another cigarette lighter USB charger and I STILL GET A HISS!) AND/OR the USB Charging cord which connects to the docking port of the IPOD to charge the IPOD. But I can rule this out because I HAVE tried other USB charge/sync cables and I STILL GET A HISS.
Remember, I get a hiss regardless if the engine is on or off and the key is in ACC (Accessories).
The only thing I think it may be is that something is not sheilded, like the audio cable which connects from the ipod to the aux jack in the front face of the car stereo.
…Or maybe I am wrong…………I dunno……….
Is it possible to find a SHIELDED 3.5mm double-ended male cable to fit between the ipod and the car stereo aux jack? Think this would help??
Is it possible to find a USB car charger that filters out RF interference??? Think THIS would help??
………Just a note………its NOT only an Ipod problem either. My cellphone ALSO hisses out of the speakers when connectd to the aux jack of the stereo while charging from its OWN charger…

I want to listen to my ipod via the car speakers using an auxilary input because its a direct line to the speakers, and what i have now is the cigarette lighter plug in which connects through the car radio, and it has miserable connection/quality. Its a 2005 base model vibe pontiac with automatic transmission and on the radio theres the cd/aux input option but there is no auxilary input, and trust me i know what im looking for. however, there might be one on the back but i dont know because i havent disconnected the radio. i want to be able to plug my ipod in using the headphone jack, not the docking port, so this would work with mp3 players as well. what can i do? is there an adapter i can buy that will plug into something on the back?

I am 16 so I DON’T have money to blow on something more than like USD more or less. Haha I don’t have an iPod dock, headphone thingy, or a cassette player. I tried plugging in though the cigarette lighter and that didn’t work so I just have the radio and a CD player. And my laptop isn’t compatible with my portable CD drive thingy so I can’t burn CD’s. Life is great… :b It’s a waste to burn that many CD’s anyways because I’m a big music person and I’d have about 50 CD’s by the time I’m done burning just the essential favourites…
My car is a 2006 Mini Cooper so if you have/have had one and there is a headphone jack that I don’t know about, please let me know. I’ve checked thoroughly though and I don’t think there is one…
And yes, I know I’m VERY lucky to have a Mini as my first car!!! I treat it like I would treat a baby. Hahaha

I bought a Sony docking station and the speakers are really good however i can only plug my ipod into it via the thing that the bottom of the ipod has (not the headphone jack the other thing), is there a cable that can allow me to plug other mp3s or my computer into the docking station? i have an 80 GB 6th. gen, ipod which works fines as far as putting songs,photos and videos BUT!! there is no audio coming out of the head phone jacks or dock station or car.
i thought that the headphone jack was the problem so i replaced it with a new one, but no change…. still no sound
i tried restoring it seveal times with itunes and via disk mode and no luck.

lol i know that sounds sooo stupid but listen….okay so my car is well…OLD…and doesn’t have a FM radio, casette tape player or anything for that matter. I tried just putting batteries in my dock and playing it but everytime i made a turn or went over a bump, the ipod would shift and my music would go off.

I don’t neccesarily need to have a charging dock for the iPhone in the car, I just want to play music in the car through the headphone jack. However, I do not see an aux in port in the car for a cable to plug into from the iPhone. Again, it’s a 2003 Jeep Liberty. Also, I would prefer not to use an FM Transmitter of any kind, which is an easy solution for any vehicle. I would like to use an actual wire or cable for an auxillary-in audio connection in this specific car model. Any help please?

Okay so I have the first generation Ipod and I want to hook i up with my itrip that I have in my car but the itrip works with the docking system, something the first generation ipod does not have. I have a Video Ipod and the headphone jack just messed up for no reason, and sound only works on one headphone. There nothing wrong with the headphones because i tried another pair. I sent it in for repair today because it is under warranty. Its only 3 months old. My question is, will they just replace the headphone jack, or give me a new Ipod? I sent in my Ipod Nano once because the screen was messed up (not cracked) and they sent me a brand new Ipod instead of putting in a new screen. That would be awesome if they gave me a new Ipod Video because mine has a bunch of scratches on it lol……soo does anyone know?

I have just connected a new Logik stereo to my 30GB IPod, via the Logik IPod dock using a 3.5mm audio cable, the dock is also connected to a power supply. I can get sound from the stereo speakers if I use the headphone jack at the top, but not when I connect it through the proper connection on the dock?
This is really baffling me and I would so much prefer not to have a large cable sticking out of my Pod when I am using a dock that will hide it! Seems a waste of money…

There are no buttons on the dock, its a universal IPod dock. The speakers work as previously stated they work when connected through the actual IPod rather than through the dock.

My iPod died but I still have a Shuffle. Its the kind where docking and charging is done through the headphone jack. The car transmitter for my other iPod had the wide connector and isn’t compatible with the shuffle. I don’t have a cassette in the car, and I don’t have a MP3 jack either. I had an ipod nano and purchased a dock and everything went good until my ipod broke. So i bought a V-touch to use cause its cheaper. we have a speaker the ipod sits in for our music but we want to listen to the radio as well through the speakers. problem is the fm transmitters i have seen all plug into the headphone jack which of course is at the bottom where it sits in the dock.
is there a radio device/attachment that sits underneath the ipod that can then be plugged into the speaker?
my headphone jack is completely trashed so i was wondering if there is anyway i can listen to my headphones out of the dock.

Cool, I think it will work. The speakers’ input is just a regular green-colored jack, the same size as a headphone jack. This is good news.

Also, preferably not something that you’d have to dismantle a car’s stereo.
