I own a Bose in-ear headphones and Bose Sounddock portable and I think their sound quality is pretty good. Why do most people on online forums HATE Bose. They won’t even consider it, like when the word Bose comes up they just reject it immediately. Have they ever owned Bose? Or are they just saying what others are saying. I understand Bose is overpriced, but are they really crap like people say they are. And whats the difference with PAPER cones compared to others? They say paper cones are cheap and the worst. Maybe they may be fragile but may be the best sound? IDK, help me. I love sound and music but I can’t decide because the Bose marketing really attracts me!

So I came across some extra money, (about 300$) and figured it was time to upgrade my Onkyo. I admit, I am a bit behind times, but have done a bit of research. I figured I’d make a post here and ask you fellas for some advice.
I need a new receiver that has HDMI processing, not bypass. I finally have HDTV (pan g15), PS3, and 1 other HDMI device. My speakers are amazing, so I am just looking for a receiver. I dont need all the bells and whistles (like ipod dock, etc). I guess everything has 7.2 surround now, so I guess Ill go ahead and make my g/f mad and put up some more speakers (currently using 5.1). I have about 300, probably more after Xmas. So probably 3-5 hundred when all said and done. I apologize for being a bit vague, but most of the stuff on the market right now has a bunch of crap I dont really need. I just love crisp audio and video. My receiver right now doesnt even have hdmi at all, yeah…its that old. Any and all suggestions would be much appreciated. Obviously I would want the most bang for the buck….the cheapest thing possible with what I need.
* I am using some Polk Audio towers, center and surround. They by no means need replacing.

I’m looking for a 5.1 channel surround sound system for no more than 0 (will bend if it’s extremely nice or an amazing deal).
Right now my top choice is the Onkyo HTSR600 (second choice was the Onkyo HT-SR700S), though that doesn’t have a CD/DVD player or iPod dock, and no HDMI. DVD player is not necessary, the whole DVD upconversion fad is a wad of crap, but a CD player would be nice.
Ipod dock would be good as well, though I can always but it separately. I have a 42" plasma and a PS3 and plenty of Blu-Rays so I want some good sound.
HDMI also not a necessity, but it would be nice. I could always go optical audio.
Any help would be much appreciated.
I’m looking for a good iPod Touch dock with some or all of the above mentioned stuff included at a decent price. There are so many options out there it’s hard to sort through all the crap. If anyone has any suggestions or links (I love links) I’d really appreciate it. Thanks for your time and effort!
I would like to purchase an ipod dock, but don’t want to pay apple or whatnot because that is too expensive. I’m a little wary of the chinese crap on eBay for . I was wondering if any good third parties made a simple, cheap dock.
Thanks!
I have just bought a new good quality sound system, and have discovered the sound quality is crap from my laptop, so i am going to use my ipod to play my music. However will i get better quality if i use an ipod dock, compared to plugging directly into my ipod. N.B I am using top quality music.
I am considering using the apple universal dock…
Will i get better quality from an ipod than from a poor quality laptop?
