I really don’t listen to the radio while I am driving, I listen to my Ipod. My car stereo has an Aux jack in the front where I plug the Ipod double-ended male jack cable into. The other end, of course goes in the headphone jack of the ipod.

The problem lies whenever I want to charge the ipod from the dock connector AND LISTEN to music at the same time. It DOES NOT MATTER if the engine is running or not, but there is line noise coming from somewhere and heard over the car speakers, and I can’t pinpoint it.

The noise sometimes varies in pitch and sometimes it just stays at one static hiss level.

The car stereo is not the problem because when it is playing a CD or on a radio station, there is no interference. I have tried other ipods in the car with the same resulting hiss. The only two causes it could be is the cigarette lighter USB charger (I have tried another cigarette lighter USB charger and I STILL GET A HISS!) AND/OR the USB Charging cord which connects to the docking port of the IPOD to charge the IPOD. But I can rule this out because I HAVE tried other USB charge/sync cables and I STILL GET A HISS.

Remember, I get a hiss regardless if the engine is on or off and the key is in ACC (Accessories).

The only thing I think it may be is that something is not sheilded, like the audio cable which connects from the ipod to the aux jack in the front face of the car stereo.

…Or maybe I am wrong…………I dunno……….

Is it possible to find a SHIELDED 3.5mm double-ended male cable to fit between the ipod and the car stereo aux jack? Think this would help??

Is it possible to find a USB car charger that filters out RF interference??? Think THIS would help??

………Just a note………its NOT only an Ipod problem either. My cellphone ALSO hisses out of the speakers when connectd to the aux jack of the stereo while charging from its OWN charger…

…….Any help would be appreciated………..

Thanks……..

I have a car stereo that has a cable for plugging in an ipod and I have other ipod specific accessories. My ipod is dying and I want to replace it, but I am hoping there might be another brand to consider, not just apple.
I mean the charging and docking port, not the headphone jack.

I’m reading reviews on some cars and they are talking about how it has an "aux in port" but no iPod adapter. What is the difference? Won’t an "aux in port" allow you to play your iPod’s music through your car stereo too?

(Double post, I know. But it’s not getting any responses in the other catagory.)

does anyone know anything about car stereos? I need a good ipod compatible car stereo, but i want to still be able to play CDs and radio. I want to be able to control my iPod from the radio, meaning I want my iPod to connect to the radio with the apple docking cord, and not the AUX in cord.

any ideas? also, id like to try to keep my price below 0, but anything above it would be helpful too

I want to use my ipod in my car. I don’t want to use the wireless FM thing or the cassette adapter. What is the difference between car stereo integration and using auxiliary car adapters? What is the best/cheapest way to install something? Should I use the front console area to plug into or the CD player under the rear seat? What is the cable that I need? Thanks for any info, especially detailed but not too technical sounding. LOL.

I bought a Griffin Itrip with dock connector off ebay to connect my Ipod to my car stereo, and while it came with the actual Itrip, there was no cord. How am I suppossed to connect my Ipod to the stereo without a cord, or can I get one? Does anyone know what exactly an Itrip is for? Here is a link to exactly what I purchased: http://www.amazon.com/Griffin-Technology-iTrip-Transmitter-White/dp/B000BREQN4/ref=pd_bbs_3?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1203185909&sr=8-3

When I got my iPod Nano 5G it came with a device that plugs into car cigarette lighters. I can’t get my iPod to play on the car stereo with the device so it is probably just a recharger but I’m not sure.

Does it allow me to play on the car radio? If so, how?
And when I mean "how," I mean "how do I do it?"

I bought a Belkin cord to connect my ipod to the auxiliary jack in my car..the only problem is I can barely hear the bass and the music dies out under the sound of the engine! I have to turn most songs to the max volume of my car stereo, but it still feels like I’m listening to music on a laptop or old radio. I have pretty nice speakers in my car; and when I listen to the radio or cds the bass is solid and the volume of the music increases as my speed increases.

This is a hard thing to explain to the people at the Ipod or electronic stores..and I don’t think the cord is defective…and I don’t want to spend too much on those fm transmitters or devices that are profesionally installed in the vehicle.

Please help if you have any suggestions! This is just unsatisfying b/c I got an ipod so I wouldn’t have to keep so many cds in my car.
And, if you have any thoughts on a good and affordable Ipod dock/speakers that I can play my music out loud at home and charge my ipod with.

                  thanks!

I’m looking for a way to hook my iPod up to my car stereo. I know the cassette-player hookups are the best, but my new car doesn’t have a cassette player. I’m also trying to avoid wires that would require me to dock my iPod in my glovebox. Anyone know of a good hookup? Perferably on the cheap…
