How do I use my iPod Universal Dock remote to control music on my iPod?
I bought an iPod Universal Dock (the official Apple one) and hooked it up to my computer; it seems to work alright with iTunes in that I can add and remove music on my iPod just fine when the iPod is docked.
The dock also came with a remote (no instructions), which has volume, back/forward, play, and menu buttons, so I’m assuming that this remote is for controlling the iPod while it’s in the dock.
This is the problem; when my iPod is in the dock, my iPod only blinks "Do not disconnect". When I hit a button on the remote, the screen lights up, so there’s obviously a signal going to the iPod, but no matter which button on the remote I press, nothing happens on my iPod, or in iTunes.
How can I make the remote work, so that I can use it to control my iPod from far away and play music through my computer speakers?
