connecting 6th Gen ipod video 80gb DIRECTLY to TV & watch vid on TV?

what cables do I need ?

I dont want to buy the apple’s 50$ cable
r there any other alterntives ?

it says there that I need apple universal dock for that cable ?
why is that
can’t I just connect it directly to the tv ?

I ask them, they didnt reply
