Can you use Ipod accessories with other mp3 brands?

I have a Toshiba Gigabeat. I’d like to be able to put it in a docking station with speakers, like you can with Ipods. Or is there just a way to hook it into regular stereo speakers?
Thanks. I don’t want an Ipod even if it’s free. I just want an answer to my question if anyone has one.
