can you play your ipod through car speakers with a car charger that plugs into your cigarette lighter?

i dont have a cassette player in my car so i cant use a cassette adapter for my ipod. if i get one of those ipod car chargers will it play music through my speakers? or will it just charge it? if it wont play the music how can i get my ipod to play through my car speakers?
