Are Ipod touches supported by older generation charging accessories?
When I plug my ipod touch into an ipod charger- that I used to use- it says "charging not supported my this accessory." Is that normal?
it does that when I plug into my car’s ipod adapter.

I found this as well. Although I can use the cable that came with my 1st gen iPod nano to sync my iPhone and charge it on my PC, the power adaptor from my old iPod will not charge my iPhone.
At some point Apple changed the voltage of iPod batteries, meaning that newer iPods have better battery life but cannot be used with older charging accessories.
Depending on the age of your car’s adapter, it may not work to charge your iPod, but it will still play over the car sound system.
You can use the USB cables from older iPods, but not the power adaptors.
The iPhones and iPod Touch’s use more power than all other iPod models. There are certain accessories you have to have for the Touch and iPhone.
